Legal Development and Training

Mission Statement

In line with the purpose of the IPBA to contribute towards the development of the legal profession in the Pacific and Asian regions, the Legal Development & Training Committee, or LDTC, was established in November of 2001 as an informal committee of the IPBA, with the following objectives:

  1. to coordinate and initiate the IPBA's efforts to provide training to lawyers in the Asia-Pacific region; and,
  2. to support the development of legal institutions in the region.

Our Committee

In 2008, the LDTC was recognized as a regular committee of the IPBA and continues to pursue the objectives for which it was originally established.

In coming up with relevant training programs, the LDTC has worked closely with both members and non-members of the countries chosen to host its training programs. This is in order to ensure that the needs and expectations of the host country audience are properly addressed and met. LDTC believes in providing practical tips, tools and techniques to its audience that can immediately be applied into practice after the training event. The committee hopes to raise funds to support its training programs.

LDTC welcomes any comments and suggestions from members and non-members regarding future training programs of LDTC. It also encourages individuals desirous of raising the bar of the legal profession in the Asia-Pacific region to join its ranks as members, so that he and she may actively contribute to the advancement of the legal profession.
