LatAm Legal Views on Investment, Trade, Compliance & International Dispute Resolution

Second Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) Conference was held in Santiago, Chile

International treaties and arbitration clauses, the execution of arbitration awards in Latin America, investment opportunities in the region, and the challenges and opportunities in the area of compliance for Latin American companies, were the topics of the second Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) regional conference, which took place on September 28th in Santiago, Chile.

The conference brought together more than 60 lawyers from 17 different countries, such as: China, Japan, Philippines, South Korea, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Costa Rica, United States, England, among others.

The IPBA is an international lawyers association with interest in the Asia-Pacific region.
It currently has more than 1,300 members in more than 65 countries around the world.

The law firms of the host and organizing committee were, on the Chilean side, Carey,CMS and Cariola, Diez, Perez-Cotapos; and foreign firms: Allende & Brea from Argentina, Ferrere from Uruguay, Rodrigo, Elias & Medrano from Peru, TozziniFreire from Brazil, Brigard & Urrutia from Colombia and Marval, O Farrel & Mairal from Argentina.

Welcome remarks were given by Rafael Vergara, partner at Carey; Gonzalo Grez, partner at Cariola, Diez, Perez-Cotapos; Fernando de Carcer, partner at CMS and Jose Cochingyan, Officer of the IPBA.
