Welcome to the first issue of IPBA's new monthly e-newsletter, "Eye on IPBA"! We hope you find it useful and informative. We'll keep you updated with what's happening at the IPBA each month.

The 24th Annual General Meeting & Conference in Vancouver, Canada, was a big success! Almost 600 delegates attended sessions on the theme of "Sustainability in a Finite World". Accompanying persons enjoyed harbor cruises and a trip to Grouse Mountain. See photos of the conference on the IPBA web site's Vancouver 2014 page.

A main feature of every annual conference is the Annual General Meeting (AGM). This event is your opportunity as a member of IPBA to speak up and make your voice heard. At right, Tatsuki Nakayama suggests having more activities for young lawyers.

Another staple of the annual conference is the IPBA Scholarship program. Applications are now being accepted for the IPBA Scholarship Program 2015 for selected scholars to attend the 25th Annual General Meeting & Conference in Hong Kong, May 6-9, 2015. Details and an application form can be found on the IPBA web site. The Scholars who attended the conference in Vancouver are shown below, flanked by Scholarship Committee Chair Amit Acco and (then) IPBA President Young-Moo Shin.

At each Annual General Meeting (AGM), IPBA members vote to instate the new IPBA leadership of Officers and other council members whose names and positions are announced prior to the conference. Pictured is new IPBA President William A. Scott, who will be the President until the end of next year's annual conference in Hong Kong. All new council members are enthusiastic to keep up the work traditions of their predecessors, while developing new initiatives to provide more benefits to IPBA members. You'll be hearing more frequently from your local jurisdictional representatives as these initiatives are solidified. See the leadership pages of the IPBA web site to get to know your IPBA leaders.

The IPBA Journal June issue, which focuses on the Vancouver Conference, will be dispatched to you at the end of this month. New Publications Committee Chair Maxine Chiang has worked hard to put together her first issue. If you have any comments or suggestions, don't hesitate to contact Maxine or the Publications Committee Vice-Chair, Leonard Yeoh. Or, contact the Secretariat, of course!
