A webinar jointly presented by the IBA Anti-Corruption Committee and the Inter-Pacific Bar Association
Settlements have become an important part of the anti-corruption enforcement, in spite of the criticism from non-government organisations (NGO’s). Even so, it is likely that many corruption scandals would not have been unveiled, and the proceeds of corruption recovered, if not for the use of mechanisms of negotiated justice. However, unlike most other regions, Asian countries are still adopting the strategy and are yet to maximise its potential.
The purpose of this webinar is to explore how different Asian jurisdictions address the settlements from a normative and practical perspective. Moreover, topics of transparency, confidentiality and reliability of the procedure and cross border repatriation of funds will be discussed.
