Hello again from the IPBA!
We have just completed our Mid-Year Council Meeting and Regional Conference in Dubai, held October 23rd through 26th, the first ever IPBA event to be held in the Middle East. Thanks to the host committee members and sponsors for their great organization and support throughout! Read more about it in this issue of Eye on IPBA.
The IPBA leadership never rests: IPBA President Huen Wong has been traveling nonstop the past few months to represent the IPBA at other organizations' conferences. Just last week he flew from Dubai to Hong Kong and on to Spain to attend the UIA Annual Congress, all within 24 hours. Whew! From November, President-Elect Dhinesh Bhaskaran will begin his world tour to promote the 26th Annual Meeting and Conference in Kuala Lumpur. See his whirlwind schedule below.

IPBA Membership News
There's still time to take advantage of IPBA's policy whereby anyone who registers from now can enjoy membership through December 31, 2016. That's three full months "extra" of membership benefits such as: the ability to submit articles to be considered for publication in the IPBA Journal; discounted registration rates for IPBA events, and events held by other entities supported by the IPBA; and opportunities to be a speaker at the committee sessions at the IPBA Annual Meeting and Conference. Registration can be done online via the IPBA web site New Member Registrationpage, or by contacting the IPBA Secretariat.

IPBA Mid-Year Council Meeting and Regional Conference in Dubai
The IPBA reaches and influences an area much wider than just the Asia Pacific. IPBA Past President Lalit Bhasin had the foresight to recognize that the Middle East is quickly becoming an area of interest to lawyers worldwide, and assigned Richard Briggs of Hadef & Partners to be the IPBA Regional Coordinator for the Middle East. Richard led a team of IPBA members in Dubai to organize our Mid-Year Council Meeting, held October 23rd through 26th.
The first three days were devoted to meetings of the IPBA leadership, including the Nominating Committee in charge of choosing future leaders; the Officers in charge of membership issues, programs, committee leadership, annual conference planning, the IPBA Journal, and IPBA finances; the Membership Leaders comprising JCMs, At-Large Council Members, and Regional Coordinators; and the Committee Chairs.
On the final day was an IPBA Regional Conference, organized by the leadership of the IPBA's Dispute Resolution & Arbitration Committee. Four panels of experts in international arbitration presented various aspects every lawyer should keep in mind in "Arbitration at the Crossroads: Middle East, Africa, and Asia". Close to 100 delegates attended from jurisdictions including the UK, Hong Kong, India, the Philippines, Japan, Switzerland, Germany, and, of course, Dubai.

IPBA Kuala Lumpur Promotional Tour
IPBA President-Elect Dhinesh Bhaskaran will be touring the globe to bring you the latest news about the upcoming26th Annual Meeting and Conference in Kuala Lumpur! Local leaders are putting together seminars or receptions as well, so attendees can have the opportunity to interact with other lawyers and learn more about the IPBA and its activities. IPBA Scholarship Program Deadline Extension
The deadline for applications for the IPBA Scholarship Program to attend the 26th Annual Meeting in Conference in Kuala Lumpur has been extended until November 30, 2015. The IPBA Scholarship covers the conference registration fee, roundtrip airfare, and accommodation. Help us find the best candidates by passing on the information to anyone who may be interested.
There are two categories: Young Lawyers and Lawyers from Developing Countries. Each year, 8-10 Scholars are chosen from dozens of applicants, so competition is stiff for this pretigious program.
Eligibility details are shown in the application form at left.
