IPBA Joint Program with International Financial Law Review (IFLR): Asia M&A Forum 2009

Date March 3-4 2009
Link www.iflr.com/ama09
Venue Hong Kong

Big money, heavily leveraged transactions may be a distant memory, but distressed M&A is creating plenty of opportunities in (and out) of Asia.  IFLR’s Asia M&A Forum, now in its fifth year, is the only event to look at the openings on a cross-border and national level. Speakers at the forum include the biggest investment banks, leading law firm partners and regulators with the inside knowledge on how to get deals done in a challenging environment. The forum will bring together senior-level transactional lawyers to discuss how deals can succeed during the credit crunch, competition developments in Asia, how to acquire distressed assets outside of the region and other regulatory and legislative changes that affect deals.

Hot topics to be discussed include:

  • How can Asian companies overcome Cfius and invest into the United States?
  • What can lawyers learn from early Anti Monopoly Law cases?
  • How to resurrect a collapsed deal by restructuring terms and conditions
  • What has been the regional impact of the liquidity crisis on M&A and how have regulators reacted?
  • Key elements to restructuring distressed Asian companies
  • How to maximize pre-packaged bankrupcies in the United States
  • The best ways to ensure an Asian target's directors meet their fiduciary duties to shareholders
  • Adjusting to the return of shareholder buybacks
  • How to make deals: a roundtable of corporate managers, investment bankers and private equity investors
